Hi, my name is Sasha Jarvis. Music is my passion. Some of you may already know this about me, but I learned to read music before I even learned my ABCs, and I've been playing ever since. I get very very nervous playing in front of others, but I've have some opportunities to overcome that, and I'm excited to tach this class and pass on the passion of overcoming fears.  Students will learn to read music, be able to identify the notes, identify rhythym and patterns, and be able to sing the notes. Some people think music theory is the driest part of music, this will be a class full fo interactive games, art projects, movement, and singing.

Mentor: Sierra Heywood. I am a mom of 5 kids, we live up in Bolivar on 26 acres and love our land and animals! I grew up dancing and have done a variety of dance styles. 

This is not a filler class, please only sign up if you intend to participate and put forth your best effort! I believe anyone can learn to dance so if you feel you are not a good dancer but would like to learn come join us and discover the joy of dancing! 

This class is designed to help students build a strong foundation in dance while developing the confidence to perform with joy and expression. In a positive and encouraging environment, students will discover that excellence comes through consistent practice, perseverance, and a willingness to try new things.

Students will learn fundamental dance techniques that improve coordination, balance, flexibility, rhythm, posture, and body awareness. Throughout the semester they will master foundational dance steps such as jazz walks, grapevines, jazz squares, chassés, pivot turns, kicks and leaps while learning how each movement supports storytelling on stage.

As students progress, they will practice learning and retaining choreography, dancing as an ensemble, performing with expression, and developing musicality by connecting movement to the rhythm and emotion of the music. Through games, exercises, and learning combinations, dancers will gain confidence, strengthen their stage presence, and discover the joy of communicating through dance.

By the end of the semester, students will have started building a solid technical foundation, increased confidence on stage, improved musicality, and the ability to learn and perform choreography with enthusiasm and teamwork.

Many students become strong readers before they become confident spellers. In Spelling Detectives we'll discover the patterns, rules, and "tricks" behind English spelling through games, teamwork, puzzles, and hands-on challenges. Instead of memorizing endless word lists, students will learn practical spelling strategies they can use in everyday writing.

This class is designed for ages 8–13 (or anyone who wants to become a stronger speller). Students should already be reading independently, as our focus is on spelling rather than learning to read.

Each week's lesson builds on the last, helping students grow in confidence while discovering that spelling can actually be fun! We'll celebrate the end of the semester with an exciting Spelling Bee where students can showcase everything they've learned. 

Whether your child already enjoys language arts or finds spelling frustrating, this class is designed to transform spelling from a chore into an adventure—one clue, one pattern, and one word at a time.

Homework will be minimal, mostly looking for spelling patterns on the work around them. 

I will have a list of a few books they could read as a bonus.
